Mother's Tongue
1h 25min | Dutch English Korean
Mother's Tongue is a road documentary about Ae Jin Huys, an adoptee in her 40s to find her identity. Korea was the nation that abandoned her, but she doesn't resent it or her parents. All she wants to do is to discover who she is and remember the times that were lost through Korean food.
She spends 2-3 months a year in Korea to learn Korean food recipes from old women at traditional markets and chefs at fine dining restaurants. Food isn't just a means for survival. The stories and memories, love and hatred contained in the food can be a driving force in one's life.
